We only stayed for two nights at The Hide-Away. We had to drive about 2 miles down a narrow road. It is normally a dirt road but there has been a lot of rain in this area so needless to say, it was MUDDY!!!! We met the owner to check in and found out he and his daughter had just bought the camp that weekend. They have a list of improvements but haven’t had time to start them yet.
This is a small, very secluded camp, mainly filled with full time residents. The sites are small with little room to maneuver. The owner was properly impressed with Dave’s backing skills!
There is a small bar at the end of the campground, next to a large and beautiful lake. Some of the customers come in by boat. We stopped in for a beer and met Carol. She lives in a houseboat full time, like some people live in RV’s full time. Her boat is not equipped with a motor, so it really is just her home, which happens to be on the water.
All I can say is… what a character!!!
Our only disappointment was that we had planned to catch up on this website and also work on our business venture but there was no WiFi and phone service was “sketchy also. We are finding that often.
The road in!
