Who could visit Charleston and not see Fort Sumter? We visited on April 8, just a few days before the start of the Civil War on April 12, 1861.
We took this ferry to Fort Sumter.
The aircraft carrier USS Yorktown is docked where we got on the ferry to to to the fort.
We tried to find another tour for the day, but it was too late for most of them. We decided we would only see more of what we had already seen (battle sites, mansions, etc) so decided to skip that. Instead, we went off to a microbrewery, Low Tide Brewing on Johns Island. Dave was wearing his Biloxi t-shirt and two different people came up to talk to us, thinking he was from there. That was fun!
