We camped in a National Park in Hot Springs. The city, state and national parks always have nice large sites. This one would not take reservations but it was first come, first serve. We arrived mid afternoon, mid week and were surprised there were not many sites left!
Gulpha Gorge Campground.
One day we rode to the Crater of Diamonds State Park and tried our had at digging for diamonds. Let’s just say, we did not get rich!
We enjoyed more bike riding through the Ozarks.
A view of Hot Springs from the hills that surround the city.
You can’t see it in the picture, but there was steam coming off the water even on a 90 degree day!
The hot springs are actually HOT! I can’t imagine actually bathing in them. There is only one bath house open for bathing now days but one original bath house is now a museum It was really interesting to visit. The elite of the US, presidents and professional baseball players were some of the people who came here, “in the day”. The bath houses promoted all forms of good health, including exercise.
We had to check out the Superior Bathhouse Brewery, in one of the old bath houses.
We also visited The Ohio Club, known for gambling and gangsters, as well as several US Presidents. No one knows the story behind the cool bar but transporting it here, in one piece, was not easy.
