Moving on south, we made it to Missouri near Lake of the Ozarks.
Majestic Oaks Campground, Eldon, MO
We had not realized the reason there are so many long fingerlike lakes in Missouri and Arkansas. Most of the 6 dams were built in the 1930’s to stop repeated flooding. Here we checked out a museum about the Bagnell Dam which was an exception. It was privately built to provide hydro-electic power to the Kansas City area.
We saw this sign and thought it strange that squirrels are allowed to drive, no matter what speed…
The swinging bridges of Brunel. A couple of swinging bridges we rode across.
Remains of a large stone castle built as a private home. It is now in the Ha Ha Tonka state park.
Fall colors are barely beginning.
Natural Bridge
It was hot after our ride so we stopped at a waterside bar that advertised stuffed poppers. Unfortunately, the website was outdated and they did no offer the, anymore. I wrote a poor review.
Shorty Pants Lounge
The next day after riding around the lakes more, visiting more dams, we stopped at Backwater Jack’s for super poppers.
It was fun watching the fish and turtles swimming below the deck at Backwater Jacks Bar & Grill.
