North Mankato, MN
We reached our home area on May 21 and will be here for a month, staying at Sawmill Campground again. Because it is home area, we will be busy with family, Minnesota friends and annual medical appointments.
Two days after getting “home”, we made an overnight trip to Sioux Falls, SD where we established SD residency. It is weird to have driver’s licenses and vehicle plates that are not Minnesota.
We went out to supper with my good friends Penny and Steve Gillis the evening we were in town but I didn’t get any pictures! Boo stayed in the motel and was nervous about getting left in a strange place while we went out. She had her bed but she knew it was not our house and she was very happy to see us return.
We went to Sierra’s last choir concert. It was so well done and I was happy to see her singing, dancing and enjoying herself so much. We had missed her final band concert because we were not yet back in Minnesota. Coming next…graduation!!!!
We had another reason for a busy first week. Dave turned 70 on May 28. We took a Papa Murphy’s pizza to Beth’s house on the 27th, to share with Beth, Lucas and Henry. Aaron did not get home from work until after we had left.
On the birthday, we took Mike to Paglia’s for more pizza. It is one of my favorite pizza spots and we go there every year.
We finished the celebration by meeting with a lot of our St. Peter friends at the Redmen. We were joined by Ken and Wendy, Deb, Carol and Korrie, Randy and Julie, my daughter Angie and my brother and SIL, Galen and Darlene.
June 3 brought Sierra’s graduation from Mankato East. She has been “Miss Muffet” or simply “Muffet” to me since she was a baby. She is so much like her mother (and me!!). I am impressed with her drive and determination. She will do well at the University of Minnesota next fall. A party in her honor will be held in a couple of weeks.
Dave was unable to attend graduation with me because Covid finally caught up with him. I don’t feel well either but 3 Covid tests have all been negative.
Two days later, my test also came up positive. Ugggggg! Fortunately, no one in my family caught it from me. Dave was able to see his doctor for annual check up and put on Paxlovid for 5 days. I had a clonal antibody infusion and with a little begging, was able to complete all of my medical appointments too.
Saturday, June 18, was Sierra’s graduation party. I wish more people had come but it was so hot!!!! It was a good time though. I got to see more of my family and wish Muffet “Good Luck” at U of M next fall.
For our last day on this trip to North Mankato, Dave and I went to Applebee’s, where it all began for us 5 years minus 2 days ago. We wanted to visit again to celebrate but of course, will not be here on the 22nd. That was such a lucky day for me and he says he feels the same way.
