Back to our roots.
We stopped in Blooming Prairie on the way back to surprise Jo’s daughter Teresa then headed to St. Peter. We had to boondock on the street by a friends house for a couple of nights. He did not know we were coming either and was not home so we texted him this picture titled “Rumor has it you have company”. We headed to our old watering holes and ran into many friends. It is so fun to surprise people!
The third night was in front of Jo’s house in North Mankato and going to a Junior High band concert that granddaughter Sierra was in.
We also got our first view of the house and water damage. (For those who missed it, the water heater burst a few weeks ago. My daughter Angie worked very hard to dry it out but it was no use. We had to hire a company to come in and remove furniture, carpet and two feet of sheetrock all through the basement).
Peaceful Valley Campground
We will be here for four weeks. It is only about seven miles from St. Peter and another ten miles to Mankato. We are having fun with friends, but also painting the basement and getting ready for carpet. We spent one afternoon buying new bedroom furniture for Sierra, who has a bedroom downstairs.
This campground is aptly named. It really is very peaceful, but rather buggy. Something bit Jo’s foot and the itch was almost unbearable. This is our longest stay anywhere except when we visited Jane in Mississippi last winter. We will have to move to a different site halfway through, because someone else had reserved this site. The owners worked very hard to accommodate us with only one move.
Memorial Day was Dave’s birthday and we spent part of it with his daughter Beth, her husband Aaron and grandson Lucas. I could not begin to match what he did for my birthday, but I think he enjoyed his day just as much.
