Sunset Beach, NC 4/15/18

We are at the Wishing Well campground in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, with plans to visit Myrtle Beach but also to get some work done!!!!

Originally we had a different camp ground booked but when I called them a few days ago to discuss a small change to the dates of our stay, they said they did not have any openings for us.  Wow, that took me by surprise as I had clearly made a reservation.  Fortunately that kind of thing does not happen often (first time it happened to us).  We were lucky we called with a question or we would have arrived today to hear the bad news.

I spent a day frantically working the phones while Dave researched on line.  Every place we called was full!  We finally found a State Fair Park that had campsites but did not take reservations.  I called and was assured they are never full this time of the year, so we were going to go there.  Then… Friday afternoon, the owner of Wishing Well called in response to my voicemail messages and told us to come on in!

We’ve only been here a few hours.  It is small and well maintained.  The internet works better than anything we have had in a long time, even though it is off our hot spots.  We are in heaven!

We spent some time working but also riding the bike which we have not done much of.  We ended up in Myrtle Beach.

After leaving the beach, we stopped at the Beach House Bar & Grill for beverages.  I had a Canadian beer, La Batts and Dave had a Jamaican beer, Red Stripe.  We like local brews but they didn’t have any!

We really wanted something light to eat before getting back home and finally stopped at Fibber Mcgees in Sunset Beach.  (Believe it or not, every place we stopped did not serve alcohol although we could have brought in our own at some places.)  Because we like to try new foods from the area, we had a hot shrimp and crab dip serviced with red, white and blue tortillas.

We had a nice conversation with two couples traveling together.  One was from California and the other from Michigan.
